3rd place competition winner
Year: 2012
Project location: Vilnius, Lithuania
Building function: Recreational

The Missionaries’ Garden (Kūdrų Park), situated between Paupio and Subačiaus streets, is a historic site featuring three serene ponds and a rich cultural heritage dating back to the 18th century. Originally established by missionaries, the gardens included orchards, vegetable plots, and fish ponds, while natural springs once fed the city’s early water system. Over time, the park suffered damage including the partial infill and degradation of ponds. Theproposal reconnects cycling and pedestrian paths to the wider urban fabric, restores pond edges and footbridges, and revitalizes the park as a multifunctional public space for community activities, events, and gardens.
